For this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival, we had the pleasure of collaborating with MORICO to design a seasonal giftset inspired by the theme Nocturne under the Moon. Rooted in a poetic narrative of the forest awakening under the glowing full moon, the design aims to capture a sense of warmth, celebration, and quiet wonder. It’s a story told through colors, textures, and playful yet refined details — a celebration of togetherness, abundance, and the magic of nature.
The visual direction embraces a warm terracotta tone as the grounding base, evoking the earthy richness of the autumn forest. This is complemented by a dominant green palette and layered with other earthy shades — moss, bark, soil — creating a harmonious, nature-inspired backdrop. Together, these tones reflect the tranquil energy of an autumn night in the woods, filled with life yet wrapped in calmness.
The outer packaging introduces the moon as a focal element — a large, metallic-foil moon that shines gently from the outside, symbolizing the heart of the Mid-Autumn celebration. A simple die-cut in the shape of a happy rabbit invites curiosity and joy, subtly connecting to traditional folklore while adding a whimsical touch. The outer terracotta surface contrasts with the shimmer of the moon, creating a balanced interplay between softness and brilliance.
Inside, the story unfolds further. The interior is wrapped in forest-themed patterns, rich in green hues and warm neutrals, where joyful rabbits come to life — playing flutes and drums, dancing under the moonlight. These musical scenes bring a sense of movement and festivity, echoing the nocturne-inspired mood. Throughout the entire giftset, we’ve introduced sparkling details — glimmers from musical notes, twinkling stars, and natural motifs — that shimmer just enough to evoke the magical ambiance of a moonlit night filled with celebration.
Every detail — from the material choices to the illustration flow — was crafted to align with MORICO’s values of thoughtfulness, natural beauty, and storytelling through design. Nocturne under the Moon is more than packaging; it’s an emotional experience, inviting the recipient to pause and immerse themselves in a gentle, luminous moment of reunion and joy.
